DRIVEN PARTRIDGE AND PHEASANT SHOOTING IN HAMPSHIRE AT STEVENTON

The Steventon Estate is the scene of a secluded shoot in Hampshire that’s well known for providing fantastic sport – it also just so happens to be where Jane Austen lived and wrote Sense and Sensibility.

While teams have been shooting traditional Hampshire partridge and sporting pheasants on the estate for hundreds of years, the shoot has gained a reputation for producing particularly high-quality days in the last decade.

The shoot, located just an hour from London, is run across 2,000 acres of rolling Hampshire countryside, with over 25 drives that can be tailored to different conditions and expectations.

A day’s shooting is memorable as much for the hospitality as for the sport itself, and Steventon is no different. A typical day starts in the Estate Owner, Peter Harrison’s house, which sets the welcoming tone that continues throughout the day.

Teams usually have two drives before elevenses, followed by two drives before returning to the main house for lunch. There are then usually two more drives in the afternoon to complete the day’s shooting.
